On September 10, 2013, the ACD Estate filed opposition to our Motion for Summary Judgment, along with declarations from the Estate’s witnesses Jon Lellenberg, George Fletcher, Larry Woiwode, Valerie Sayers, and Loren Estleman. We have until September 30 to respond, and upon filing with the Court, we will post our response on this website. Thereafter, it will be up to the Court to determine the outcome.

There seems to be an argument over “creation” vs “development”. Development of a character is not the same thing, the character would still exist as a creation without the additional development from one book/collection. I find it sad that some writers would come out and side with the estate on this. In truth they must know that the character was formed well enough before the publication of the final 10 short stories.
